The Northern Cape Department of Education (NCDoE) opened the Online Learner Admissions process for the 2024 school year. Parents of learners attending Grade R, Grade 1 or Grade 8 during 2024 must submit an admissions application.
Parents and Guardians have just one month to submit an online admissions application for their child. This is the online application period that will close at midnight on 22 June 2023. Walk-in centres are available to help parents submit admission applications.
The education department said applicants will be able to register as a user on the system and apply for admissions at the same time. Parents will be able to register and apply for more than one child at the same time.
How To Register For School Applications In The Northern Cape
Step 1: Visit the NCDE website and register as a user;
Step 2: Click in the blocks to agree to the Terms and Conditions;
Step 3: Fill in the Required Information;
Step 4: Create a Username and Password;
Step 5: Submit the parent/guardian details;
Step 6: Follow the instructions and submit the learner details;
Step 7: Follow the instructions and apply to schools.
All required documents must be uploaded on the NCDoE admissions website. The department will distribute the documents to the schools the parent applied to. Parents can apply to a maximum of three schools.
Documents Needed For Northern Cape School Applications
South African citizens
- ID documents
- Proof of Home Address
- Child’s birth certificate
- Clinic Card/Immunisation Card
- Most recent Grade 7 learner progress report (If applicable)
Non-South African citizens must submit a valid learner study permit/asylum seeker/temporary or permanent resident issued by the Department of Home Affairs. This must be done for the learner and the parent.
Parents must ensure they provide a cellphone number that is active as the department will communicate and send important information to the cell phone number provided on the application website. Parents can update their cell phone numbers on the website.
This information includes usernames and passwords, the sequence number of applications, reminders to submit documents and final placement at a school.
Parents may apply to any school based on the admissions criteria.
The NCDoE reminded parents that their children may not be placed at their preferred schools. However, the department will ensure that all learners are placed in a school for the 2024 school year.
