The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (Nsfas) has made an announcement concerning the funding of students attending public universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges in 2022.

Nsfas have announced that the funding list will be released today. The announcement means that Nsfas bursary applicants' funding status will now be visible.

Unsuccessful applicants will be able to appeal their rejected funding application from Thursday 3 February 2022.

Applicants whose bursary application was approved may proceed if they have received an academic offer. You will now be able to register for an approved qualification.

On Tuesday, Minister of Higher Education and Training Blade Nzimande praised the improvements made to the Nsfas application system. This is as Sassa grant beneficiaries immediately received confirmation of funding.

“With this initiative, all first-time entering students that were successfully verified as SASSA beneficiaries received immediate confirmation of funding upon submitting a complete application to NSFAS,” said Nzimande.

The minister also announced that all students who have been admitted for funded programmes at public TVET colleges and universities will be funded by Nsfas.
