The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will begin paying permanent grants during this week. It is estimated that around 18 million people receive a permanent grant every month.
These permanent grants include the Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, Child Support grant, Foster Care Grant, Grant in Aid, War Veterans Grant, and the Care Dependency grant.
Earlier this year, Sassa announced that permanent grants will be distributed earlier during every month. The first day of December 2022 falls on Thursday 1 December and Sassa will begin distributing the Older Persons Grant.
Here Are The Sassa Grant Payment Dates For December 2022
Older Persons Grant - Thursday 1 December
Disability Grant - Friday 2 December
Children's Grants - Monday 5 December
Recipients of permanent social grants can also use their Sassa gold card to access their grant money.
A Sassa gold card allows grant beneficiaries to transact for free at ATMs and retailers. These cards also ensure grant beneficiaries do not receive bank charges on their first three transactions and gives them the protection from any illegal deductions.
There is no need to rush to withdraw cash on the first day. Once the money is in the account, it will remain there until it is needed.
It's important to note that the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, also known as the R350 grant, does not have a fixed payment date.
Beneficiaries of the grant can have their grant money paid directly into their bank account and or collect their money at retail outlets if they have been approved for payment. These retailers include Shoprite, Checkers, Boxer and Pick n Pay stores around the country.
