Adult matric candidates must have completed Grade 9 (Standard 7), possess an equivalent qualification, or have incomplete matric results. This qualification allows candidates to rewrite selected subjects to meet matric pass requirements or improve their existing marks.
Steps to Register for the Senior Certificate (Adult Matric Rewrite)
1. Confirm Your Eligibility
To register for the Senior Certificate, ensure you meet the following requirements:
- You are 21 years or older at the time of the exam.
- You have completed Grade 9, Standard 7, or an equivalent qualification.
- If rewriting, you have your previous incomplete matric results or a certified statement of results.
2. Choose Your Subjects
The Senior Certificate requires candidates to write a minimum of six subjects:
- Two official South African languages (one at Home Language level and the other at First Additional Language level).
- Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.
- Life Orientation is not required for the SC.

Exam Periods and Results
The Senior Certificate exams are written in May/June each year. Once completed, results are typically released by August.
