The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) has released the highly anticipated National Senior Certificate (NSC) results for the 2024 academic year.
The IEB reported a remarkable overall pass rate of 98.47%. A significant portion of the class, 89.37%, qualified for university entrance with Bachelor's Passes.
Diploma Passes were achieved by 7.56% of candidates. Higher Certificate Passes were awarded to 1.53% of students. A very small percentage, 0.02%, received Endorsed Passes.
Re-marking Options for IEB Matriculants
Students who are not satisfied with their results have the option to request a re-marking of their examination papers.
Applications for re-marks must be submitted to the IEB by 31 January 2025. The IEB will release the re-marked results on 1 March 2025.
Understanding the IEB Re-marking Process
The IEB re-marking process aims to ensure accuracy and address any potential errors or oversights that may have occurred during the initial marking.
Detailed instructions on how to apply for a re-mark are included with the official results. Candidates must apply directly to the IEB online; schools cannot submit applications on their behalf.
Once the re-mark request is submitted, the IEB assigns experienced examiners to review the examination papers.
IEB Matric Rewrites
For students who require a complete rewrite of their examinations, the next opportunity will be in May/June 2025.
Applications for the May 2025 matric rewrite will be open from 1 March to 14 March 2025.
