Eligibility Criteria:
- Be a South African citizen, resident, or special permit holder.
- Not receive other government assistance (e.g., UIF, NSFAS).
- Have a monthly income and bank balance below R624.
Sassa Verification Process:
Sassa conducts monthly eligibility checks, verifying identity and citizenship through the Department of Home Affairs, and income via bank details with the Department of Treasury. Approved applicants receive payments towards the end of each month.
How to Apply:
- Visit the official SRD grant website.
- Select your citizenship status (South African ID holder or Asylum Seeker/Special Permit Holder).
- Click "Apply online."
- Enter your mobile number and the received OTP for verification.
- Complete the application form.
Payment Options:
Approved recipients can receive payments directly into their bank accounts or collect them at participating supermarkets, including Pick n Pay, Boxer, Checkers, USave, Shoprite, OK, and Spar.
