Sassa distributes over 18 million permanent grant payments, including the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid. This is in addition to the approximately 8 million individuals who receive the temporary Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.

The SASSA e-life Certification is a self-service digital platform that allows beneficiaries to complete their life certification from the comfort of their homes.
This platform is accessible via the SASSA Online Service portal, offering a user-friendly interface and secure biometric verification through the electronic Know Your Client (eKYC) system.
Sassa Grant Increases
Each year, the Finance Minister announces social grant increases during the Budget Speech. These increases take effect on 1 April.
Grant Increases for 2026
- Old age grant will increase to R2,320 (R2,340 for those aged over 75)
- War veterans grant will increase to R2,340
- Disability grant will go up to R2,320
- Foster care grant will be R1,250
- Care dependency grant will increase to R2,320
- Child support grant will be R560 (Plus R280 top-up)
- The grant-in-aid will be R560
- The SRD Grant will be R370
