The SRD grant, commonly called the R370 grant, provides critical support to millions in South Africa.

If you applied for the May 2025 grant, you can check your application status on the Sassa SRD website. This will show if your application is approved, rejected or still pending.

How to Track Your SRD Grant Appeal Status

  1. Go to the official Sassa Appeals website.

  2. Enter your ID number and cellphone number.

  3. Click “Track Appeal.”

The tribunal will notify you electronically within 60 to 90 days. Its decision is final, but you may challenge it in the High Court within 180 days.

Understand the Grant Verification Process

Before appealing a rejection, it's vital to understand how R370 grant applications are verified.

To qualify for the SRD grant, you must meet all eligibility criteria.

You must be a South African citizen, resident, or special permit holder. You cannot receive UIF benefits or NSFAS bursaries. Your bank balance must be below R624 to qualify for the SRD grant.
