The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has unveiled the official schedule for the release of 2024 Matric results. To ensure timely dissemination of exam outcomes, the DBE has outlined critical deadlines for matric exam administration tasks.

The 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams will kick off on Monday, 21 October 2024, and conclude in the final week of November. A total of 732,448 full-time candidates have registered for the NSC exams, marking an increase of 8,400 compared to the previous year. Additionally, 136,195 part-time candidates are participating in various subjects.

To safeguard the integrity of the examinations, the DBE and Umalusi have implemented stringent security measures. These measures are classified to protect the credibility of the exam process. Furthermore, the DBE has made significant investments to strengthen security protocols throughout the entire value chain.

  • Exam Mark Capture: The DBE expects all matric exam marks to be captured by 16 December 2024.

  • Umalusi Standardisation and Approval: Umalusi, the body responsible for ensuring exam standards, will conduct its standardisation meeting on 24 December 2024. The final approval of results will be announced on 7 January 2025, preceding the official release.

  • Provincial Release of Results: Matric results will be made available to learners on 16 January 2025, both at schools and online.

With over 800,000 matric candidates participating in NSC exams across South Africa's 6,900 exam centers, a substantial amount of work is required before the Minister announces the 2024 Matric results in January 2025.
