The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has recently announced that beneficiaries of the R350 grant will not need to reapply for the grant in April 2023. The grant will continue as normal and those who previously applied for the grant do not need to reapply.
The R350 SRD grant was initially introduced by the government in 2020 to provide financial assistance to individuals who have been negatively affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The grant was later extended until March 2024 to continue supporting South Africans who are struggling financially due to the pandemic.
Sassa confirmed that existing beneficiaries should not worry about reapplying for the grant in April 2023, as the grant will continue as usual. However, beneficiaries have been reminded that their applications will be checked every month to verify if they still qualify for the grant.
