The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes more than 18 million permanent grant payments every month. A range of social grants are available, including the Social Relief of Distress Grant (SRD), Child Support Grant, Foster Care Grant, and more.
As September approaches, Sassa beneficiaries across South Africa are eagerly anticipating the next round of Sassa grant payments. Here's a breakdown of the key dates and amounts for the upcoming month:

- Disability Grants: 4 September 2024

Sassa Grant Amounts for September 2024
- Older Persons grant: R2,180
- Older Persons (75 years and older): R2,200
- Disability grant: R2,180
- War Veterans grant: R2,200
- Care Dependency grant: R2,180
- Foster Care grant: R1,180
- Child Support grant: R530
- Child Support grant (Top-up): R530 + R250
- SRD Grant: R370
Upcoming Sassa Grant Increase
The Former Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, confirmed that Sassa grants will be increased in both April and October to help mitigate the effects of inflation and ensure better access to social assistance. The next increase is scheduled for 1 October 2024.
Godongwana announced the following Sassa grant increases:

This means that from 1 October, the Old Age grant, disability grant, war veterans grant, care dependency grant and the child support grant top-up will be increased by R10. Unfortunately, the child support grant and foster care grants won't receive a Sassa increase.
