The University of South Africa (Unisa) has published important dates related to the final months of the 2023 academic year.

In an official statement to all Unisa students, the university's administration emphasised the significance of upcoming dates for both planning and successful examination admission. The announcement, published on Tuesday 29 August, outlines the following key dates and activities:

Publication of the October/November 2023 Provisional Timetable

On Wednesday, 6 September 2023, students will have the chance to view the provisional timetable for the upcoming October/November 2023 examinations on the Unisa Examination Timetable Tool, accessible through the institution's official website.

Submission Deadline for 1st Compulsory Assignments for Examination Admission

For modules with examinations scheduled, students are required to adhere to their module-specific examination admission criteria by Sunday, 13 September 2023.

These criteria include submitting assignments, with students having three options:

  • Submitting any one assignment,
  • Submitting a minimum number of assignments, or
  • Achieving a minimum formative mark.

Failure to meet these criteria, as stipulated in the module assessment plan, will result in non-admission to the respective module's examinations.

Admission to Examinations

On Friday, 15 September 2023, Unisa will send out admission letters to students, detailing the exact dates and times of their module examination sittings. This step aims to provide students with ample time to prepare and plan for their exams.

It is important for students registered for modules with different assessment methods, such as continuous assessments, portfolios, and practicals to carefully review the "module arrangements" indicated in their admission letters.

Additionally, these students are advised to consult their module sites (myModules) for information about assessment due dates. These outlined activities are designed to streamline the examination process and ensure that all students have an equal opportunity to excel academically.

Unisa's commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent assessment system is underscored by these dates, allowing students to understand and fulfil the necessary requirements for examination admission.

Unisa further encourages its students to actively engage with their module sites (myModules) to access detailed assessment plans, due dates, and any additional instructions related to their individual modules.
