With more than 10 million beneficiaries of the R350 grant, there are several options where benefits can collect their R350 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) uses several agents to distribute the R350 grant.
Here’s Where You Can Collect Your R350 Grant
The Post Office
the South African Post Office (SAPO) is one of the main distributors of the R350 SRD grant. Beneficiaries of social grants like the child support grant, older persons grant, disability grant and the child support grant are able to use it as a collection point.
If you opt to collect your R350 grant at the post office, you are encouraged to wait for an SMS confirming your money is available. This will save you from waiting in a queue at the post office only to be turned away.
It is also important to note that the R350 SRD grant does not have a fixed payment date. There are designated days where you can collect your R350 grant from the post office. These days are determined by the last 3 digits of your ID number.
Your Bank
Sassa allows for a R350 grant to be paid directly into your bank account. This is one of the most convenient ways for people to access their grants. Sassa says providing your banking details could result in your money being processed faster. This will enable you to draw your money at an ATM at a time and place that is convenient to you.
Sassa spokesperson, Paseka Letsatsi said, “The good thing about having the money paid in your bank account is that you can get your money at any time, whereas if you get your money at the post office, unfortunately, you have to wait for certain days”.
Post Bank/Cash Send Services
If you do not have a bank account, you may use the Post Office’s Post Bank Services. The Post Bank services allow grant beneficiaries to use their ID numbers and their unique cell phone numbers to access their grant.
You must have a cellphone with a registered cellphone number and proof of identification.
Pick N Pay or Boxer Stores
PicknPay or Boxer stores are also an option for the millions of R350 SRD grant beneficiaries. You must however wait for an SMS from Sassa confirming that your money is available. Only once you receive this SMS, will you be able to collect your money at either a Pick n Pay or Boxer store.
You will not be able to collect your grants at BP Pick n Pay Express, Pick n Pay Clothing and Pick n Pay Liquor stores.
Checkers, Shoprite, Usave and selected OK Foods Supermarkets
The Shoprite Group is the newest member of the R350 grant distribution group. The group made the announcement in March 2022 after the grant was extended by 12 months.
