All recipients or applicants of the special SRD-R350 grant who do not have smartphones are being warned by the South African Social Security Agency not to select the EFT payment option. For such transactions, the EFT payment option needs smartphones with the associated apps.
According to a Department of Social Development statement, recipients of the R350 grant have regularly complained about the Customer Care division in Mpumalanga not processing their EFT payments.
The Agency has found that the majority of the beneficiaries who are unable to complete their EFT payment are doing so because their phones have very limited or no computing or internet capabilities.
Beneficiaries have been advised by the agency to select an appropriate payment option to avoid any trouble. On SASSA's official website, located at https://srd.sassa.gov.za. the agency has further stated that beneficiaries may find information on all the acceptable payment methods.
Additionally, they have the option of choosing to be paid by authorised retailers and financial institutions. Beneficiaries or applicants must make sure to update any changes to personal information, such as updated credit card information and bank account information.
This will ensure the correct recipient and prevent payment rejection. Beneficiaries are urged by SASSA not to seek help from strangers while updating their personal information. The personal information of the recipient may be used by strangers in their fraudulent endeavours.
