South African social grant recipients can look forward to a much-needed boost to their monthly grant payment. As announced in this year's Budget Speech, Sassa grants are set to soon increase.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) plays a crucial role in supporting millions of vulnerable South Africans through various social grants. These grants include the Older Persons pension, Disability, War Veterans, Care Dependency, Foster Child, Child Support, Child Support grant Top-Up, and Grant-in-aid.

Every year, the South African government announces increases to Sassa grants. In his recent budget speech, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana confirmed that Sassa grant increases would be implemented on 1 April and 1 October 2024.

We are sensitive to the increase in the cost of living for the nearly 19 million South Africans who rely on these grants to make ends meet. In this regard, we have done as much as the fiscal envelope allows.

The next Sassa grant increase is scheduled for 1 October 2024. This increase aims to help beneficiaries cope with rising inflation and maintain their standard of living.

Sassa Grants To Soon Be Increased

 Godongwana announced the following Sassa grant increases:

Old Age (under 75 years old) R90 R10

Child Support Grant Top-Up R10 R10
