The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has announced it will continue processing funding applications for students at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges over the coming days.

NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. The funding covers tuition and registration fees, alongside allowances for food, accommodation, and study materials.

Late Applications Open in January

While walk-in applications for 2025 funding remain off the table, NSFAS has confirmed it will accept late applications in January 2025.

In a recent circular, NSFAS clarified that this decision overturns an earlier communication outlined in Circular 9 of 2024. The revised dates now align with the academic calendar of TVET colleges.

Key Dates for TVET Funding Applications

Applications for TVET college students opened on 13 January 2025 and will close on 24 January 2025. Prospective students must apply for the academic year they plan to register for.

Application Process

NSFAS reiterated that all applications must be completed online via the myNSFAS portal. Students are reminded to fully complete their application forms rather than stopping at account creation.

To apply, students need to:

  • Create a myNSFAS account on the NSFAS website.
  • Fill out the application form with accurate personal, academic, and financial details.
  • Upload all required supporting documents.
  • Submit the completed application.

Free Application Process

NSFAS has stressed that applying for funding is completely free, with no charges involved at any stage.

Students are encouraged to meet the deadlines to secure their funding for the upcoming academic year.
