The Vaal University of Technology (VUT) is preparing to distribute National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) allowances to eligible students. Students must provide their bank details to the institution to receive payment.

NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. NSFAS funding covers tuition and registration fees, as well as several allowances for food, accommodation and learning materials. VUT is among the universities that will distribute these allowances.

Allowance Disbursement at VUT

VUT has confirmed that NSFAS-funded and privately sponsored students will receive book and meal allowances. These payments will be made directly into students' bank accounts.

Bank Detail Verification Required

Allowances will be paid once bank details are verified. Students must enter their bank details on the VUT ITS iEnabler system. "The allowances will be disbursed after the registration processes are concluded or upon receiving the payments from the sponsors," according to VUT.

Steps to Upload Bank Details

Students must follow these steps to ensure timely allowance payments:

  1. Enter bank details on the VUT ITS iEnabler.
  2. Ensure the bank account is active.
  3. Upload a bank confirmation letter no older than three months.
  4. Upload a certified copy of their ID.

VUT has warned students against sharing their ITS/iEnabler login credentials with anyone. "Students are advised not to share the ITS/iEnabler login credentials with anyone," the university cautioned.

Direct Payment Policy

The Financial Aid Office has emphasised that allowances will be paid directly to students only. Payments will not be made to next of kin, friends, or roommates.

Students are advised not to use Tyme and Discovery banks due to inadequate security measures when opening the bank account. The Finance team wishes you the best in your studies.
