NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges This funding covers tuition and registration fees, along with allowances for accommodation, food, and learning materials.

To remain eligible, students must ensure all personal and academic details submitted to NSFAS are correct and updated as needed. Any changes in circumstances that could affect funding must be reported immediately.

Consequences of Providing Incorrect Information

NSFAS has emphasised that funding may be cancelled if granted based on inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information. In such cases, the scheme reserves the right to reclaim disbursed funds.

"If financial aid is extended to any person based on inaccurate, incomplete, and/or outdated information, NSFAS reserves the right to cancel such funding with immediate effect and claim back all funds already disbursed based on such inaccurate and/or incomplete and/or outdated information," NSFAS stated.

Fraudulent Applications May Lead to Legal Action

NSFAS has also warned that students who falsify information in their applications risk losing their funding and facing legal consequences. If a bursary is awarded based on fraudulent details, NSFAS may cancel the funding, reclaim disbursed funds, and take legal action against the student, their parents, or legal guardians.

Similarly, if funding is granted to an ineligible individual, NSFAS may revoke the award, recover the money, and report the matter to law enforcement authorities.

Students are urged to ensure that all details submitted to NSFAS are accurate to avoid financial and legal repercussions.
