The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has confirmed that grant payments for November 2024 will proceed as scheduled.
Sassa distributes more than 18 million permanent grant payments monthly which include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.
All Sassa beneficiaries were scheduled to receive their payments starting on Tuesday, 5 November 2024. Sassa has assured beneficiaries that all grants will be disbursed this week as planned.
The agency also dismissed rumours of a delay in the November payments. This clarification came in response to a message circulating on social media claiming that Older Persons Grant payments would be delayed this month.
Beneficiaries can collect their social grants at their usual collection points.
Warning Regarding Funeral Cover for Older Persons Grant Beneficiaries
Sassa has issued a warning to social grant beneficiaries about unauthorised individuals offering "funeral cover" on behalf of the agency. These individuals, claiming to represent Sassa and operating under various company names, have reportedly approached elderly beneficiaries at home, attempting to sign them up for funeral insurance.
Sassa does not offer funeral policies and is not affiliated with these companies. Beneficiaries with questions about their grants are encouraged to visit their local Sassa office and speak only with official Sassa representatives.
The agency urges beneficiaries to exercise caution and avoid sharing personal information with strangers. Community members are advised to report any suspicious activities to Sassa immediately
