The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, managed by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa), provides vital financial support to unemployed individuals between the ages of 18 and 59. Beneficiaries receive R370 per month through this program.

September 2024 SRD Grant Payment Dates

Sassa has confirmed that SRD payments for approved beneficiaries will be processed between 23 and 28 September 2024.

Clients are advised to check their payment status on the SRD website to determine when the funds will be deposited into their accounts

How to Check Your SRD Grant Status

To check the status of your SRD grant, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official SRD status check page on the Sassa website.
  2. Enter your ID number and the cellphone number used during your application.
  3. You will receive a One-Time Pin (OTP) for verification. Enter the OTP to access your payment status and grant details.
  4. Your payment date will be displayed if your grant is approved.

What If You Don’t Have a Payment Date?

Approved beneficiaries who do not see a payment date may be missing critical information, which could delay the grant. Common issues include:

  • Missing banking details: Ensure your bank account information is up to date on the Sassa website.
  • Postbank accounts: Sassa no longer supports Postbank accounts, so beneficiaries should update their banking information.
  • Cash Send/Mobile Money: Payments may be delayed due to incorrect ID or cell phone numbers. Consider switching to a bank deposit for faster processing.

For further assistance, contact the Sassa Customer Care Call Centre at 0800 60 10 11.

How to Receive Your SRD Grant

  1. Direct Bank Deposit: Funds can be directly transferred to your bank account for faster access.
  2. Supermarket Collection: Alternatively, you can collect your cash grant from participating supermarkets, including Pick n Pay, Boxer, Checkers, USave, OK, and Spar.

Only applicants who have passed Sassa’s eligibility checks will receive the SRD grant
