The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has opened the appeals process for May 2025 Sassa grants under the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) programme. Individuals whose applications were declined can now submit an appeal.
According to Sassa, the appeal process is available to applicants who believe their SRD grant applications were unfairly rejected. Appeals may be lodged for reasons such as incorrect information submitted, changes in personal circumstances, or other valid justifications.
To appeal, visit the Sassa appeals website. Applicants must provide supporting documents, such as identity documents or proof of income, to substantiate their claims.
How to Appeal a Rejected R370 Sassa Grant
Follow these steps to submit your SRD grant appeal:

Visit the ITSAA website.

Enter your South African ID number.

Enter the cell phone number used during your application.

Click “Send Pin” and wait for the SMS verification code.

Enter the pin and click “Submit.”

Select the month of appeal (e.g. May 2025).

Choose the reason for your appeal.

Click “Submit” to finalise the process.
All SRD Sassa grant appeals are reviewed by an Independent Tribunal to ensure fair and impartial outcomes.
Successful appeals will be confirmed via SMS. If no response is received within 90 days, applicants can check their appeal status online.

If you’ve submitted an appeal, follow these steps to track its progress:
