The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) provides Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grants to millions of unemployed people in South Africa every month.

Two public holidays—Christmas Day and the Day of Goodwill—fall in the final week of December 2024. As a result, Sassa has scheduled grant payments for earlier in the month.
