Sassa announced that approved SRD grant beneficiaries will receive their payments between 23 May and 28 May 2025.
These payments are issued during the final week of each month, following Sassa’s verification process, which ensures that only eligible applicants receive the grant.
Check Your SRD Grant Status
To find out if your SRD grant for May has been approved, you can perform a grant status check. This will also show the exact date your payment is scheduled.

Visit the Sassa SRD status website.

Select the “SRD status check” option.

Enter your South African ID number and the cell phone number used during your application.

You’ll receive a one-time PIN (OTP). Enter the OTP to access your payment details.
Once processed, it may take 2 to 3 working days for the payment to reflect in your bank account.
Where to Collect Your SRD Grant
Beneficiaries are encouraged to receive their SRD grant via direct deposit into their personal bank account, as this is the fastest and most convenient method.
If you do not have a bank account, you can collect your grant from selected retail stores and ATMs, including Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Checkers, and Boxer outlets.
Important: Be sure to bring your South African ID when collecting your payment.
