The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) distributes Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grants to vulnerable individuals across the country.

If your banking details are missing or incorrect, you may be approved but won’t get a payment date. To avoid delays, make sure your information is current.

Approved beneficiaries can update their details via the SRD website.

How To Change SRD Grant Payment Method

  • Visit https://srd.sassa.gov.za/
  • Under 'South African ID Holders', click 'Click here to proceed'
  • Scroll to 'How do I change my banking details'
  • Enter your ID number
  • You'll get an SMS with a secure link
  • Click the link and follow the steps to update your banking info

“If you choose to receive your grant via a bank account, ensure that you are the account holder. Sassa will not deposit the grant into another person’s account. If you opt for the money transfer option through a major bank, your mobile number must also be registered in your name.”

Important Note

Updated banking details will only be used once verified. Double-check all information to avoid payment issues.
