The Western Cape Education Department is urging parents and guardians in the province to promptly respond to Grade R placement offers for the 2025 school year. As a reminder, the department began distributing these offers on 17 September 2024.

Applications for Grade R in the Western Cape opened on 1 August and closed on 16 August, giving parents around two weeks to submit their Grade R applications.

The outcome of the 2025 school year applications for Grade R are now available! Parents can view the outcome here. Accept or decline offers before 30 September 2024.

If you haven't already, please review your child's placement offer carefully and indicate your acceptance or declination within the specified timeframe. Failure to respond may result in the automatic assignment of a school with an available spot.

At this stage, parents do not need to submit certified copies of documents. These will only be required if a placement offer is accepted.

Parents who haven't received an offer are encouraged to remain patient, as additional placements may become available as other families finalize their choices.

The WCED remains committed to ensuring that all eligible learners have access to quality education. By responding promptly to placement offers, parents can help facilitate a smooth transition for their children into the 2025 academic year.
