Ready to tackle the new tax year, SARS announced that  taxpayers have two options when booking an appointment - either via the eBooking online system which lets you book Video and voice appointments or by phoning the toll-free number we've included below. Physical walk-in appointments may not be booked through this option though.

Using this service, you will be able to ask for help to complete your ITR12 Income Tax return. What you’ll need Specify whether you are making a booking for yourself, a business, a representative or a practitioner. You won’t be able to book the appointment otherwise.

Make sure that you’ve captured all your personal details exactly as it’s registered with SARS, or else the system will not validate your details.

Foreign citizens can make a booking by using their foreign passport numbers while South Africans must use their ID numbers.

Appointments cannot be made more than 60 days in advance - the earliest reservation you will be able to make or receive is after 48 hours from the time of booking. Only a one-time slot may be selected; scheduling recurring appointments or ‘block bookings’ is not allowed.

Once an appointment has been confirmed you will receive an email or SMS confirming the appointment along with a reference number.

On the date of the appointment: A SARS agent will get in touch with you via telephone for the appointment via Microsoft Teams, on the internet (all efforts will be made to serve clients on time). Late clients may forfeit their appointment but will need to make a new one for a later date.

You will be given an appointment with a specific service agent and will not be allowed to request assistance from someone else unless an alternate booking is made.

Following your appointment, you will be able to follow up on the progress by either accessing your eFiling profile or by calling the toll free number mentioned above. Please ensure that you have submitted all supporting documents that are relevant to your query before your appointment otherwise SARS may not be able to help you.

You can submit all the relevant supporting documents electronically through the SARS Online Query System.

To successfully book your spot, you will need to provide a valid cell phone number along with an email address. Remember that only SARS registered taxpayers can request an appointment - unregistered users will be referred to the eFiling website to register.

For more detail on the process, see the guide on how to Book an Appointment at a SARS Branch.

It is recommended that you use Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox or Safari to access the booking form and NOT Internet Explorer. Please note that only processes which are not yet been fully automated will be dealt with by way of an appointment. You may select these processes from the dropdown list when requesting the appointment. If the process you are looking to complete is not in the dropdown list – it means that the process can be completed by way of our electronic channels.
