The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) makes provision for adoptive parents. This ensures that when adoptive parents take off time from work to spend with their family, their bank income is subsidized.

Qualifying Criteria
Application must be made within 6 months after the adoption order has been issued by a competent court
The adopted child must be younger than 2 years old
Only contributors of the adopting parents can apply for benefits
Benefits payable is the difference between what the employer pays and the rate prescribed in the benefits schedule of the Unemployment Insurance Act
Subject to credits, benefits can be paid for a maximum of 365 days
