The Covid-19 Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (TERS) was introduced to help support workers who lost income as a result of the Covid-19 lockdowns.
It is important to note that you will not receive your UIF TERS benefits if you are not declared by your employer to the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF).
The UIF TERS benefits are also not dependent on the standard UIF credit system and will not impact your current credits.

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) has paid out more than R63 billion in TERS benefits to employers and employees, and the UIF hopes to finalise all TERS related claims by the end of the year.
The UIF was also extended to include workers who have lost income due to the social unrest that took place in parts of KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng. This will however fall under the WABU (Workers Affected by Unrest) benefits system.
