Sassa offers several social support grants to people living in South Africa. It is estimated that 46% of the country’s population are beneficiaries of a social grant. These grants include the disability grant, older persons grant and child support grants.

However, if you want to apply for one of these grants, you will have to travel to your closest Sassa office. This is because Sassa’s online grant application system is not available.

The agency says the unavailability of the option to apply for grants online is due to the system receiving upgrades.

Sassa said, “Our online social grant application system is still on pause due to system upgrades. To apply, kindly visit your nearest Sassa local office’.

Its important to note that different grant applications are done on different days. Those wanting to apply for one of the child support grants can visit a Sassa office on a Wednesday or Thursday.

The online system mentioned above does not apply to the R350 grant application. These applications are done on the Sassa SRD Website https://srd.sassa.gov.za. However, this system will also be unavailable on certain days.
