The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has called on parents to ensure their login credentials on the admissions system is updated before the release of the 2024 school applications. This will avoid any delays when admission decisions are released on 29 May 2023.
During the on-time applications period from 13 March 2023 – 14 April 2023, thousands of parents that had applied previously on the system had forgotten their passwords and needed password resets.
Parents and caregivers in the province have been eagerly awaiting the day when they will find out which school their child will attend during the 2024 academic year.
School governing bodies in the province have been hard at work applying their admission policies for the admission of learners in 2024. This has been the case for primary schools and high schools for Grade 1 and Grade 8 admissions respectively.
The WCED revealed that more than 150,000 parents and caregivers submitted admission applications for their children for the 2024 school year. It is therefore important that they ensure their login details are active when they log in to view the outcome of their child’s admission application.
The reality is that over 150,000 parents and caregivers have been eagerly awaiting the outcome of their applications under very stressful circumstances. We, therefore, ask if you can test your passwords in advance so that you can resolve any reset issues before 29 May 2023.
The department said that by testing if their passwords work, parents remove the risk of requiring assistance when admissions decisions are related.
By doing so, you will have immediate access to the website on the day to view your application status
Parents who require assistance with resetting their passwords are advised to contact the WCED call centre on 0860 142 142. Alternatively, they can send an email to service@westerncape.gov.za.
