The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has started administering social grant payments for the month of November to beneficiaries of the Older Person's Grants, Disability Grants, and Child Support Grants.

As for the Sassa Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, beneficiaries do not have a set payment date and recipients of this grant will be notified of their payment dates via text message.

If they haven’t yet received a communication regarding their payment date, then they ought to check on the official SRD website.

Recently, the Sassa Mpumalanga branch has clarified in a statement:

We would like to inform SRD grant beneficiaries that the date that appears on a status of the grant is not a payment date but it is a date where the grant was captured in the system.

According to the national government agency, after the grant has been captured into the system, the grant beneficiary should expect to receive an SMS at any time.

It is said that this caution and awareness has been created so that recipients of the grant do not waste their time and money by traveling to paypoints.

Sassa has advised its clients to wait for an SMS notifying them of their payment date before attempting to withdraw their SRD grant funds from merchants or banks.

The Agency has also reminded the beneficiaries to check and/or adapt their contact details to make sure that they are correct by logging in to the SRD official website.
