A new month has begun and grant recipients will be eligible to collect their money from the post office or it will be paid into their bank accounts.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will be processing payment of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant from next week. This as the SRD grant is not available for collection from the post office when other grants are being distributed.
However some SRD grant applicants won't be able to collect their grant money.
If your grant application was rejected and you chose to have your application reconsidered, you might have to wait a bit longer to collect your grant.
This comes after Sassa announced that they are currently experiencing a delay in the processing of reconsideration requests.
The agency said, ‘Clients who applied for reconsideration are advised of the delay in addressing the reconsideration requests. SASSA is currently working to resolve this. Sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused’.
SASSA will begin January payments of the SASSA R350 grant on Monday, 10 January 2022. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT WHEN TO COLLECT YOUR R350 GRANT.
More than 10 million people currently benefit from the SRD grant. This after SASSA received more than 14 million applications for the grant. The grant is expected to come to an end in March 2022.
Here are the reasons why your SRD grant may have been rejected by SASSA.
