SASSA payment dates for the month of October are now available for all beneficiaries who receive permanent grants.
Payments will be made from 5 October 2021, starting with the older person's grant.
Older person’s grant: Tuesday 5 October (this includes any grants linked to these accounts)
Disability grant: Wednesday 6 October (this includes any grants linked to these accounts)
Children’s grant (and all other grants): Thursday 7 October
Grant amounts were recently increased this year by the National Treasury. It was during this time that the Minister of Finance, Tito Mboweni, announced that the grant increase would be below inflation rates of between 1.0 and 3.4 percent.
The grant amounts that beneficiaries will receive are now as follows:
- Old age and disability grants - R1 890
- Persons over the age of 75 and war veterans - R1 910
- Foster care - R1 050
- Care dependency - R1 890
- Child support will increase - R460
SASSA has urged all beneficiaries to remember that payment dates are only available for SASSA's permanent grants, which are paid on a monthly basis to qualifying beneficiaries. Unlike permanent grants, the Special Covid-19 R350 grant is a temporary grant that does not have a set payment date.
All R350 grant applicants waiting to receive payments from SASSA have been urged to wait before collecting their grants.
"Avoid disappointment and visit your post office only AFTER you have received an SMS telling you your grant is ready." said the South African Post Office.
