The R350 (SRD) grant was introduced in May 2020 and was due to end in March 2022 to meet the end of the National State of Disaster.

However, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the extension of the grant until March 2023 and also shared that beneficiaries will continue to receive R350 per month.

In a recently held media briefing, Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu said:

There are 7.5 million people who are currently benefiting from the grant on a monthly basis.

While the agency might have experienced some delays after changes in its threshold regulation, it has assured all R350 grant beneficiaries that payments will be made.

According to the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa), September payments will be released after the October social grant payments.

Sassa has confirmed that October social grant payments will end on 5 October 2022, and then R350 grant payments should have started from 6 October 2022.

Should you not be able to collect your SRD grant, it is advisable that you check your grant status, and then you will be able to also see if your application was successful for specific months and payment dates.

It is said that if you are approved with no pay date, it means payment has not been processed as yet, however, payment will be processed soon.

It has been reported that some delays have been caused by incorrect banking details being entered in the SRD application system.

Sassa’s General Manager Brenton van Vrede has urged people to be diligent when entering their bank account details on the system, so that payments can be made.
