The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) provides temporary relief to workers who lost income for several different circumstances. However, members of the public can expect delays in accessing relief as the fund's system will be unavailable this week.
The UIF revealed that their financial systems will be unavailable until 3 April 2023. The UIF is finalising their year-end closure processes.
The UIF financial systems will be closed from 16:00 on 24 March 2023 until 31 March 2023 due to the financial year-end closure processes.
UIF claimants are informed that no claims will be captured during this period. Claims will not be paid until April 2023. The UIF will resume capturing, processing and paying claims from individuals from 3 April 2023.
Regretfully, no claims will be captured and paid during this period. The capturing, processing and paying out of claims will only resume on 3 April 2023.
The UIF provides financial assistance when a UIF contributor loses income or becomes unemployed.
This includes benefits for unemployment, illness leave, maternity leave, reduced work time, adoption leave and parental leave. If a UIF contributor passes away, their dependents will be paid UIF-dependent benefits.
Unemployed workers can apply for benefits at their nearest labour centre. They must be registered as work-seekers and take the necessary documents with them.
Alternatively, individuals can register and claim benefits online on the UIF uFiling platform.
