The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has confirmed its 2025 application dates for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges.
NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving learners enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. This includes money for tuition and registration fees as well as several allowances for food, accommodation and learning materials.
NSFAS TVET College Application Dates and Process
NSFAS TVET College application periods are closely aligned with the academic calendar, allowing students to apply for funding as they begin their studies. Students are advised to apply for the specific academic cycle in which they intend to register.
All NSFAS applications must be submitted online, as TVET walk-in applications will not be available in 2025. Unlike in previous years, NSFAS will only accept online applications through the myNSFAS portal for all funding cycles in 2025.
NSFAS emphasises that students should complete and submit their applications through the myNSFAS portal, not merely create a profile. New applicants are reminded to finish the entire application process to ensure their submission is complete.
NSFAS 2025 TVET College Application Dates
- Trimester 2: Opens on 12 May 2025, closes on 23 May 2025
- Semester 2: Opens on 14 July 2025, closes on 31 July 2025
- Trimester 3: Opens on 8 September 2025, closes on 19 September 2025
NSFAS 2025 applications are currently open for everyone and will close on 15 December 2024. These applications are for university and TVET colleges who will commence with their studies at the start of 2025.

Grade 12 learners are reminded that matric results are not required when applying for NSFAS funding.
Students do NOT need to wait for the release of their current results to apply for NSFAS funding for 2025.
