Register Now To Rewrite May/June Matric Exams

Registration is now open for matric exam rewrites. However, only learners who participated in the most recent Grade 12 exams will be able to write in November.

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has announced that learners unsatisfied with their May/June results can register for the end-of-year National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams to improve their scores.

This announcement follows the release of the May/June 2024 matric results in August. Only candidates who participated in the NSC exams are eligible for the November 2024 matric exams.

Registration for the end-of-year matric exams is now open and will close on 21 August 2024. Learners who wrote the May/June 2024 matric exams can rewrite specific subjects in the end-of-year exams to improve their results.

Candidates can only register to improve on the subjects they wrote during the 2024 May/June NSC examination.

The DBE also encouraged learners to familiarise themselves with the information on the back of their statement of results for further details.

October/November Matric Exams

The DBE released the 2024 October/ November final matric exam timetable.  The timetable indicates when learners will write their NSC exams or their SC exams. 

Both the Department of Basic Education (DBE) and the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) have released their official timetables for the 2024 matric exams.

  • DBE Matric Exams: Commence on Monday, 21 October 2024.
  • IEB Matric Exams: Commence on Tuesday, 10 September 2024 with Life Orientation CAT Part B.

Learners are encouraged to prepare adequately for the matric exams. The Careers Portal provides resources including matric past papers, dedicated to making the matric year easier for grade 12s.
