SASSA R350 Grant: Here’s What ‘Reapplication Pending’ Means

The SASSA R350 Social Relief of Distress Grant was introduced to provide crucial financial support to unemployed South Africans during the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Applications for the relief grant were reopened in August 2021 and the grant will continue to provide relief until March 2022.  However, not everyone who applied for the SRD grant was accepted, as more than 3.8 million SRD grant applicants were rejected. 

One of the reasons given when people have checked their SRD grant status is ‘Replication Penidng’.  SASSA says that this means that no application or reapplication was received by SASSA.

If you receive this message when you check your SRD grant application status, it is recommended that you make an application or reapplication via the SASSA website. 

To qualify for the SRD grant applicants must ...

Be South African citizens/permanent residents/refugees/asylum seekers/holders of special permits Be unemployed Have no alternative source of income or financial support from any other source

Be between the ages of 18 and 60 Not be receiving any other SASSA grant 

Not be benefiting from the Unemployment Insurance Fund 

Not be benefiting from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme
