The training programme covers the fundamentals of general facilities management in a practical way.  The focus areas include an overview of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHAct) and some of its implications, emergency and contingency planning and the basics of asset management and building maintenance.

This training programme empowers managers of facilities to understand the importance of procurement in a facilities management environment, bidding processes and gain a holistic understanding of the element of facilities management suppliers that deliver, products and services.  The course further assists procurement managers to understand contract management principles and prepare service level agreements.

Project Management for Facilities Managers

This accredited training programme entrenches the elements of a project affected by time, cost and quality; from concept to close out of facilities management projects at theoretical and practical levels.

The final day includes the practical application of the project using MS Project ©.

Principles & Practices of Facilities Management (Introduction to FM)

This accredited training programme provides a comprehensive understanding and effective methodologies to manage office and building service associated with facilities management.

There is a focus on business management skills and the application thereof in the facilities environment.

Disaster Risk Management (Approved Skills Programme: Generic Management)

This accredited qualification is ideal for junior to middle facilities management staff to provide insights into and tools to manager disaster within the workplace. The disaster in question is based within the workplace.

This ‘Disaster Management’ course can either be completed as a stand-alone course or as an additional, elective unit standard as part of the ‘Generic Management qualification’.

National Certificate: Generic Management: Customer Management

This accredited qualification is ideal for junior to middle facilities management staff who want to gain a solid foundation in leadership, management and customer service management principles and concepts.  The programme consists of seven contact modules offered in a facilitated classroom environment that include formative and summative assessments that are submitted for each module via our Afroteq online training portal.  Regular contact sessions with the facilitators ensure that a steady momentum is maintained to support and motivate the delegate to full completion.

Resilience Training

Aim: The purpose of resilience training is to equip the delegate with useful information, practical skills and tools to build resilience in a personal and professional capacity. Through this process, the delegate should be able to use these skills to build trust and create positivity within a team. Resilience training is especially helpful to teams experiencing the stress of change and is an important part of change management.

Leading Change

Aim: To understand the importance of strategically leading change in an organisation. Ineffective change management leads to a breakdown of strategy which in turn impacts negatively on the outcome. From a leadership perspective the specific circumstances that go along with change need to be identified, understood and effectively addressed.

Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

Aim: This workshop develops cognitive skills/analytical thinking in learners. Content: Articulating or defining the problem, Viewing different perspectives, using various business tools at out disposal, Building usable Knowledge, Identifying the best possible solutions, Evaluating solutions, Acting on solutions and findings. Outcome: A delegate who achieves this unit standard will be able to: Implement problem formulation techniques of increasing degrees of complexity and novelty. Analyse and clarify components of a problem. Determine parameters and strategise for task solutions.

Manager Development Programme (7days)

MDP Delivery: Three study sessions totalling 6 days over a period of 4-6 months. This includes a 1x day group action learning improvement project and a presentation. Total duration is 7 days

Target Audience: Senior Supervisors / Middle Managers. (Minimum Grade 12)

MDP Purpose: The MDP aims at equipping senior supervisors and middle managers to function effectively at their level of the pipeline.
