Those who applied to receive the R350 grant from the Social Security Agency of South Africa (Sassa) but found that their R350 grant application was unsuccessful are given a second chance by submitting a R350 grant appeal. This appeal sees Sassa re-evaluate the unsuccessful application.
Here's how to submit an appeal for Special Relief of Distess (SRD) grant applications for May.
How To Submit An SRD Grant Appeal
- Go to the SRD grant appeals website
- Click on the 'click here to lodge an appeal or check appeal status' bar
- Enter your ID number
- Enter your cellphone number
- Click 'send pin' and wait for the SMS which will contain the verification pin
- Enter the pin and click 'submit'
- Select the month you are submitting an appeal for
- Select the drop down arrow and choose the reason for your appeal
- Click 'submit'
Reasons Why An SRD Grant Application Is Unsuccessful
So, you completed and submitted your application to get the R350 grant but then unfortunately, you were rejected.
Well, the main requirement for the grant is that you receive no other income, grants, UIF money or NSFAS. If you receive any of these, you would not have been accepted then.
Then, you might have been rejected and told that you are 'IRP5 Registered'. This means that databases are picking you up as someone who pays tax which means you're receiving an income.
If the reason you were rejected says that you're receiving UIF and you're not, this could be that the database is picking up old UIF payments or such.
