The Department of Basic Education (DBE) announced the release of the May/July 2024 Matric Rewrite results on 7 August 2024. If matriculants are dissatisfied with their results or suspect errors, they can apply for a remark or recheck of their exam papers. This process allows their results to be reassessed for any potential mistakes.
Applications for both remarks and rechecks must be submitted by 20 August. The fee for a remark is R116 per paper, while a recheck costs R29 per paper.
Additionally, candidates can request to view their exam scripts at a cost of R220. The deadline for script viewing applications is also 20 August.
What Is a Matric Re-check?
Requesting a recheck of your matric script involves a thorough review to ensure that all questions have been correctly marked and that the total marks have been calculated accurately.
What Is a Matric Re-mark?
If candidates believe their awarded marks do not reflect their performance, they can request a re-mark. This process involves a complete re-evaluation of the original answer script by a different examiner.
How to Apply for a Matric Re-mark/Re-check
Application forms are available at the exam centre where the test was written, or applications can be submitted online by following these steps:
- Visit the Government’s Official e-Services Portal.

Registration for November Exams
Learners unsatisfied with their May/June results or those seeking to improve their scores can register for the end-of-year National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. However, only candidates who participated in the 2024 NSC exams are eligible for the November exams.
Registration is now open and will close on 21 August 2024.
Those who wrote the May/June 2024 exams can retake the subjects they previously attempted during the November exams to enhance their results.
