The wait is over for learners who passed the National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams in November 2023. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has announced that official matric certificates are now available for collection from schools starting Friday, 3 June 2024.
Who Can Collect?
All candidates who participated in the November 2023 NSC exams can collect their certificates from their respective schools on or after 3 June 2024. This certificate serves as official documentation of your hard work and academic achievements during your high school career.
Collection Process
To ensure a smooth collection process, schools may have designated collection days or require appointments. We recommend contacting your school directly to inquire about specific collection times and procedures.
Why Collect Your Certificate?
The DBE encourages all learners to collect their certificates as soon as possible. These documents are crucial for various purposes, including:
- Applying for further education programs
- Job seeking
- Other official purposes
What Did You Receive in January?
On the day following the announcement of matric results, learners typically receive a "statement of results" from their schools. This statement is not the official NSC certificate. However, it can be used for applying for jobs and initial education opportunities.
The Final Certificate
The final certificate, issued by Umalusi, is awarded after a thorough re-marking and re-checking process to ensure accuracy. This usually happens around May of the following year, but could be as late as September.
This official Umalusi certificate serves as the permanent record of your NSC qualification.
