Social grant payments often serve as a main source of income for many people living in South Africa and are used to help families put food on the table and contribute towards their basic needs.
One of the main payment options available to grant beneficiaries is to collect their money at various retail stores across the country, including Shoprite Holdings.
However, Shoprite has recently announced that Sassa gold card beneficiaries can now switch their gold cards to a Shoprite money market account to receive their grant payments.
The retailer noted:
Sassa grant beneficiaries with gold cards expiring in the next few months can avoid long queues and payment mishaps by switching their payments, free of charge, to a Shoprite Money Market Account – South Africa’s lowest cost, fully fledged, transactional bank account.
Beneficiaries who opt for the switch can collect their monthly grant payments at Shoprite, Checkers or Usave stores around South Africa using their Shoprite Money Account.
How can I switch?
