The purpose if the SRD is to provide individuals with assistance if they are unable to meet their basic needs. This assistance comes in the form of food vouchers and providing school clothing to learners who have lost their school uniform due to the crises.

How To Apply To Apply For The Food Voucher

Submit your contact details to a ward councillor at your nearest municipality or to a social worker.

Your application for the food voucher is processed immediately after the assessment. Once your application is approved, the voucher will be issued.

You will only receive the voucher for one month.

Sassa explained that it is expected that people’s lives will normalise and the other forms of SRD including the R350 will still be available for people who are experiencing hardship.
