The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has commenced the distribution of Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments for October 2025.
SASSA confirmed the SRD grant payment dates earlier this week.
SRD Grant Payment Dates for October 2025
Payments for approved SRD grant applicants will be processed between 24th October 2025 and 29th October 2025.
SASSA notes that it may take 2-3 working days for the payments to reflect in the bank accounts of approved beneficiaries. Once the funds are available, beneficiaries will be able to access and use their grants.
Beneficiaries are encouraged to check their status on the SRD website to confirm the exact date on which the payment will reflect in their accounts.
Checking Your SRD Grant Status
To verify whether you will receive a grant payment, you can complete a status check on the SASSA SRD website for the October payment dates.
Beneficiaries are advised to confirm their payment status online to see if they have been approved for October payments and to determine the exact date of disbursement.
Eligibility for the SRD Grant Payment – October 2025
When applying for the SRD grant, applicants must provide their personal details, including ID number, name, and surname, which will be sent to the Department of Home Affairs for validation.
Subsequently, the ID number is cross-referenced with various databases, such as the South African Revenue Services (SARS), Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF), and National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)to assess the applicant’s financial status. Both the ID number and mobile number will also undergo a fraud risk scoring process to verify the legitimacy of the application.
Once these checks are completed, SASSA will evaluate the application and make a decision on whether to approve or deny the SRD grant application.
