The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will distribute more than 18 million permanent grants to beneficiaries in July 2023. These grants help beneficiaries purchase food and other necessities needed to survive monthly.
Sassa distributes several permanent social grants. This includes Older Person grants, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top Up and Grant-in-aid.
These grants are distributed to beneficiaries during the first week of every month. Sassa previously revealed the July 2023 grant payment dates, which indicated that grants will be paid from Tuesday, 4 July 2023.
Where Sassa Grant Payments For July 2023 Must Be Collected
Bank Account
Grant beneficiaries can choose to have their Sassa grant paid directly into their bank account. Many people believe this is the best grant payment method, as people can access their money at any time and don’t need to travel to a centralised location to collect their money.
Mobile Cash Pay Points
Sassa also distributes grants by setting up mobile cash points in areas where beneficiaries don’t have access to other grant payment collection points. However, beneficiaries may only collect their grant payment for a few hours during a grant payment cycle.
Post Office
The South African Post Office distributes grants to beneficiaries every month. Beneficiaries who choose to collect their grant at a Post Office branch may only collect their money on official grant payment dates and during predetermined time frames. These time frames are usually the operation hours of the post office.
Retail outlets
Grant beneficiaries can also collect their permanent social grants at selected retail outlets. Pick N Pay, Checkers, Shoprite and Boxer stores distribute social grants every month.
It's important to note that grant beneficiaries can collect their social grants in July 2023 even if their Sassa card is expired. This is because Sassa extended the validity of Sassa gold cards until the end of 2023. Beneficiaries can also collect their grant without a Sassa gold card.
