Thousands of learners across South Africa participated in the 2024 Independent Examinations Board (IEB) matric examinations. These exams commenced on 10 September and concluded on 28 November.
IEB Matric Results Release Date
The eagerly awaited 2024 IEB matric results will be officially released on 13 January 2025, subject to approval from the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi).
Checking Your IEB Matric Results
- School Distribution: Schools will receive the results directly from the IEB and distribute them to their respective learners.
- Online Access: Results will be available for viewing on the official IEB website.
- SMS Results:
- If the IEB has your cellphone number, results will be automatically sent via SMS.
- To register for SMS results, send an SMS to 35135 with the following format: "Results (your examination number) (your date of birth YYYYMMDD)"
IEB Matric Rewrites
Students who are not satisfied with their final matric results can apply for a rewrite. Registrations for the May/June 2025 rewrite period will open on 1 March and close on 14 March.
Students can apply to rewrite any number of subjects (except for Life Orientation). They must write both papers for subjects with Paper 1 and Paper 2.
Applications for rewrites must be submitted online through the IEB portal. The cost per subject rewrite is R1510.
Upon successful completion of the rewrite, students will receive a combined IEB final Grade 12 certificate.
Re-marking of Results
Students who are unhappy with their initial results can request a re-mark. Applications for re-marking must be submitted by 31 January 2025. Re-marked results will be released on 1 March 2025.
The IEB facilitates Umalusi-accredited examinations in all National Senior Certificate (NSC) subjects for registered schools.
