Millions of social grant recipients make use of the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) payment card to access their funds.

Step 1: Report the lost card to the police station, and the police will provide you with a case number, which you will need when applying for a new card.
Step 2: Visit your nearest SASSA office, and once you have arrived at the offices, you ought to bring the following with you documents:
- Your ID document or passport
- A recent proof of residence
- A police report confirming that your Sassa card has been lost
- Your cell phone number
- Your bank details (if you want to receive your grant payments electronically)
- Step 3: Complete the Application Form
- Once you have all the necessary documents, you will need to complete an application form for a new SASSA card. You can obtain the application form from the SASSA office, or you can download it from the SASSA website and complete it beforehand. Step 4: Submit the completed application form to the Sassa office along with all the required documents. This will be followed by a Sassa official verifying your documents and processing your application.
Step 5: You will receive an SMS notifying you that your new Sassa card is ready for collection. When collecting our card, you will need to bring your proof of identification either in the form of an ID document or passport to the Agency’s office.
