The 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations concluded on 28 November. Now, thousands of Limpopo matriculants are eagerly awaiting the release of their results.

Matric is the final year of high school in South Africa. It's a crucial year for learners as it determines their future academic and career paths. The National Senior Certificate (NSC) exam, written at the end of Grade 12, is a significant milestone for South African students.

The Limpopo Department of Education is eagerly awaiting the release of the 2024 matric results. This year, 124,630 candidates sat for the exams, with 94,214 full-time and 30,416 part-time repeat candidates.

Limpopo MEC for Education, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, said:

We are proud of our learners and educators. Together, we will achieve excellence.

The matric exam period for 2024 commenced on 21 October and finished on 28 November 2024 with the MEC setting a target of at least an 80% pass rate for the 2024 matric exams.

Matric Results Release Date

Minister for the Department of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube has said that the final matric results will be announced on 13 January 2025. Provincial education departments, including Limpopo, will then distribute the results to students on the following day, 14 January 2025.

Collect at Exam Center: Visit your exam center to receive your results in person.
Online: Access the Department of Basic Education's official website, enter your exam number and other required details.

Understanding Your Matric Results

Bachelor's Pass: Requires a minimum of 50% in five designated subjects, including Life Orientation. You can also fail one subject.
Diploma Pass: Requires a minimum of 40% in five designated subjects, including Life Orientation. You can also fail one subject.
Higher Certificate: Requires a minimum of 40% in Home Language and 40% in at least two subjects, with 30% in three others. You can also fail one subject.
Fail: Failing two subjects (scoring below 30%) results in a failed year.

Rewriting the Matric Exam

If you're dissatisfied with your results or need to improve your results, you can register for the 2025 May/June NSC or SC exams. Registration is open from 1 October 2024, to 7 February 2025.
