The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has set dates on which social grants may be accessed by beneficiaries.

It is for this reason that it is important that grant recipients take note of the payment method that is relevant to the type of grant that they are receiving.

One of the ways that millions of Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant recipients may use to receive their funds includes making use of their bank accounts.

Sassa recommends this payment method as it seems to be the most convenient, however, some SRD grant clients don’t have a bank account to receive their funds.

Fortunately, the government agency also has the Cashsend payment option that SRD grant beneficiaries may take advantage of.

In a statement, Sassa has reminded SRD grant clients:

They must use their ID numbers and phone numbers to access their grant money.

The Cashsend option is also known as the Post Bank services, and the service allows grant beneficiaries to use their ID numbers and cellphone numbers to access their grant payments.

The merchants that Sassa has selected for SRD grant beneficiaries to make of include PnP, Boxer, Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, and Spar.

For any challenges experienced during cash withdrawal please contact Postbank enquiries:

It is important that grant recipients await an SMS notification from Sassa before heading to the store to make their withdrawals.

Grant recipients have also been reminded that they don’t need to collect their Sassa payments on the date when it available as they will remain in their accounts until needed.

Here’s A New Option For SRD Grant Holders:

Shoprite’s Financial Services General Manager, Jean Olivier said grant holders can easily switch their grant payments, free of charge to the Money Market Account.

The retailer’s Money Market Account is South Africa’s lowest-cost transactional banking account, with no monthly fees, and clients only pay a flat R5 fee for cash withdrawals.

Grant recipients will be able to send money, buy airtime/data, pay for electricity, pay in-store, and also for cash withdrawals using this account.
